Despite all efforts Billit makes to secure your data there are always security risks on which we unfortunately have no influence. That's why we offer the possibility to link your Microsoft account with your Billit account. A Microsoft account is used to gain access to a lot of Microsoft devices and services. You can use it to log on with Skype, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Office, Office 365 and a lot of other Microsoft services. The account ensures that you have safe access to all your files, photos, contacts and settings from all your devices.
Your Microsoft account also allows you to enable two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication makes your account safer because it's more difficult for someone else to login to your Microsoft account. Two types of identification are used: your password and a contact method (also called security data). Even if someone else discovers your password they can't use it if they don't have access to your security data. That's also why it's important to use different passwords for all your accounts. You can find more info on two-factor authentication with your Microsoft account here.
Of course, you can also use the two-factor authentication from Billit. This allows you to login with your own email address and secure your account better.
To link your Billit account with your Microsoft account click 'Sign in with Microsoft' when you login to Billit.
In the next steps you should first identify yourself as owner of the Microsoft account and give permission to link your Microsoft account to your Billit account. You only need to identify once. Next, you can login to Billit with your Microsoft account and use the two-factor authentication from your Microsoft account.
Companies who want to set up these security measures for all their employees can also implement SSO (Single Sign On) Lock. This means that users can only login with their Microsoft account based on the company's domain name, or they see the login with their Microsoft account as the only option. For more info contact our support. Billit supports both oAuth and OpenID Connect.
